Sura al-Buruj

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ (0)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

﴿البروج ، 0﴾

وَ السَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ (1)

By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs;

﴿البروج ، 1﴾

وَ الْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِ (2)

By the promised Day (of Judgment);

﴿البروج ، 2﴾

وَ شَاهِدٍ وَ مَشْهُودٍ (3)

By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;-

﴿البروج ، 3﴾

قُتِلَ أَصْحَابُ الْأُخْدُودِ (4)

Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire),

﴿البروج ، 4﴾

النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُودِ (5)

Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel:

﴿البروج ، 5﴾

إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ (6)

Behold! they sat over against the (fire),

﴿البروج ، 6﴾

وَ هُمْ عَلَى مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ (7)

And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers.

﴿البروج ، 7﴾

وَ مَا نَقَمُوا مِنْهُمْ إِلاَّ أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ (8)

And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!-

﴿البروج ، 8﴾

الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْکُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ وَ اللَّهُ عَلَى کُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ (9)

Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things.

﴿البروج ، 9﴾

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَ لَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِيقِ (10)

Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire.

﴿البروج ، 10﴾

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَ عَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ذٰلِکَ الْفَوْزُ الْکَبِيرُ (11)

For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens; beneath which rivers flow: That is the great Salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires),

﴿البروج ، 11﴾

إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّکَ لَشَدِيدٌ (12)

Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord.

﴿البروج ، 12﴾

إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَ يُعِيدُ (13)

It is He Who creates from the very begiing, and He can restore (life).

﴿البروج ، 13﴾

وَ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ (14)

And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness,

﴿البروج ، 14﴾

ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيدُ (15)

Lord of the Throne of Glory,

﴿البروج ، 15﴾

فَعَّالٌ لِمَا يُرِيدُ (16)

Doer (without let) of all that He intends.

﴿البروج ، 16﴾

هَلْ أَتَاکَ حَدِيثُ الْجُنُودِ (17)

Has the story reached thee, of the forces-

﴿البروج ، 17﴾

فِرْعَوْنَ وَ ثَمُودَ (18)

Of Pharaoh and the Thamud?

﴿البروج ، 18﴾

بَلِ الَّذِينَ کَفَرُوا فِي تَکْذِيبٍ (19)

And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)!

﴿البروج ، 19﴾

وَ اللَّهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ مُحِيطٌ (20)

But Allah doth encompass them from behind!

﴿البروج ، 20﴾

بَلْ هُوَ قُرْآنٌ مَجِيدٌ (21)

Nay, this is a Glorious Qur`an,

﴿البروج ، 21﴾

فِي لَوْحٍ مَحْفُوظٍ (22)

(Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved!

﴿البروج ، 22﴾
